What I Like About Living in and Around Sarasota Florida

Downtown Sarasota from the Ringling Bridge

Sarasota is a beautiful city located on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It is known for its white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and lush vegetation. It is also home to a vibrant arts scene, world-class shopping, and delicious restaurants.

However, after the tourists and snowbirds (a northerner who heads for the warm, Florida shores) are gone, you can really enjoy the small-town charm with our big city amenities, that is Sarasota. The streets are less crowded, the restaurants are less busy, and the beaches are practically empty!

Foodie’s Paradise

Main St Sarasota: breakfast, lunch, or dinner, There are many restaurants to choose from

Sarasota is a foodie's paradise (did I mention I’m a foodie?), with dining options to suit any taste and budget. From locally sourced restaurants to casual cafes to fine dining, there's something for everyone. And if you're looking for something truly unique, you can't miss the local delicacies that Sarasota has to offer. From Grouper to Mahi Mahi, you'll be able to find something to tantalize your taste buds.

Tiki Bars

Tiki Bars abound: great locations on the beaches

When I’m in the mood for a taste of the tropics, there's no need to book a flight to Hawaii or the Bahamas. I just head down to one of Sarasota's many Tiki Bars (my favorites are Lido Key Beach and Evie’s at Spanish Point), where I can enjoy all the fun of a tropical island with friends without ever leaving town. The air is thick fresh gulf breezes and the perfect laid-back atmosphere. Whether munching on fish tacos or empanadas with friends, there's no better place to enjoy some fun and relaxation.

Experiential

Live music, outdoor festivals

The things to do around Sarasota are more than just activities, they are experiential! These are a few of my favorites:

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is one of the most renowned art museums in the United States, housing preeminent art and cultural collections on the south side of the estate and the Circus Museum on the north side. It's easy to spend the day exploring this museum from John Ringling's exquisite Ca' d'Zan (it was a love letter to his adored wife Mable) to the Bayfront Gardens, and more.

The MOTE Marine Laboratory and Aquarium is more than just an Aquarium. A group of scientists have for 67 years, focused on research and education. It is an experience that I enjoy because I always leave with more knowledge about our oceans and aquatic life with each visit.

Friday Fest is great in the off-season for good tunes and good vibes with great friends! I love this outdoor concert series that runs from June to September. It showcases the best of local bands from Sarasota and Bradenton, along with food trucks on the Van Wezel Lawn along the beautiful Sarasota Bayfront.

Real Estate

As a real estate agent, I am often asked to show potential buyers a wide variety of homes, from old houses to brand-new construction. While some people are drawn to the charm of an older home, others prefer the modern amenities and low maintenance of a new home. Personally, there's something about the quirky character of an old home that just speaks to me. Of course, it's not for everyone, but that's what I love about being a real estate agent: there's something for everyone’s taste!

Wrapping Up

Sarasota is a great place to live, and I'm grateful for the chance to experience it in all seasons. The people are friendly, the beaches are beautiful, and there's always something exceptional to do. If you're looking for a place to call home or a second home, I highly recommend Sarasota and the surrounding areas - especially in the off-season!
